ODORx Thermo-55 Cherry is a solvent-based odor counteractant for thermal fogging featuring a blend of highly purified petroleum solvents and odor-controlling essential oils to prevent malodors from infiltrating the living environment. Proper application knocks out the strongest odors and helps to prevent malodors from reappearing.

Thermo 55 is an essential component in the Three Step Odor Removal Process. Thermo 55 consists of highly purified petroleum solvents and odor control essential oils. These substances generate a vapor barrier that prevents malodors from finding their way into the atmosphere. The thermal fogging process uses heat to produce micron size particles.

Note: Thermo-55 is intended for thermal fogging only.

Product Application

Three Step Odor Removal Process: This process resolves even the most challenging odors in any indoor environment. Always refer to product labels or User Guides for specific application instructions.

Step 1: Suppression spray: Knock down odor sources by applying an odor counteractant such as 9-D-9 or Double -O with a compression sprayer. It is important that the solution come in direct contact with all contaminated surfaces that might be a source of odor. This provides an initial knockdown of strong, objectionable odors.

Special instructions for strong smoke odors: For smoke odors in charred wood, attic insulation, and ceiling/wall voids, use the following mixture as a suppression spray: Add to an empty 5 gallon (20 liter) pail 1 gallon (4 liters) of Unsoot Encapsulant, 1 quart (0.95 liter) 9-D-9, 5 ounces (150 ml) Last Resort. Add water to make 5 gallons (20 liters) and apply the mixture with a low pressure sprayer. Covers 500 square feet per gallon (49 square meters per 4 liters).

STEP 2: Apply odor counteractant and Absorbent. Sprinkle C.O.C. (Crystal Odor Counteractant) at a rate of 4 ounces per 200 square feet (120 ml per 20 square meters) of floor area.

Step 3: Thermal fogging. Apply Thermo 55 using a thermal fogging device. Refer to product label or User Guides for specific instructions. Be sure to ventilate the treatment area thoroughly before permitting the area to be re-occupied.

Fogging Procedure

  1. Survey to determine the potential for exposure to sensitive individuals. Take special precautions to minimize exposure of potentially sensitive individuals. See special precautions.
  2. Be sure that application equipment is in good working order. Determine the volume of the room so that you will know how much Thermo-55 will be required to treat the area.
  3. Turn off pilot lights and eliminate ignition sources and review Unsmoke indoor fogging precautions as found in the Odor Removal Manual.
  4. Evacuate humans and pets from treatment area. Post “Do Not Enter” signs.
  5. Remove or protect food* and utensils.
  6. Cover materials potentially adversely affected by petroleum distillates.
  7. Issue respirators to application personnel.
  8. Best results are achieved when temperature of area to be treated is above 55°F (12.8°C)
  9. Apply Thermo 55 at rate of 0.5 to 1.5 fluid ounce per one thousand cubic feet (15 to 45 ml/ 28 cubic meters) of airspace.
  10. Doors and windows should remain closed for 30 minutes after fogging. This allows adequate time for the product to penetrate various surfaces in the room.
  11. Ventilate treatment area for at least 60 minutes prior to re-entry or re-occupancy.

* Notes on treatment of food items: Food that was in the same part of the room or building when the disaster event occurred would normally be disposed. The event itself would have damaged those items. For example, the heat or acidic smoke from a structure fire could damage the container or the contents. An exception would be if the quantity or value of the food warrants analysis by a qualified food hygienist. If food is packaged in a non-permeable container such as glass or metal, the fogging process itself will not damage those items. These items could be cleaned. Items packaged in permeable containers such as paper, thin plastic or cardboard might pick up the taste of the thermal fog so they should be disposed.
